Condition Probable Causes Suggested Remedies
Slipping in Fourth and Reverse Ranges Only 1. Fourth clutch defective. 1. Overhaul clutch and replace piston seals.
2. Trimmer valve sticking. 2. Overhaul trimmer valve.
3. Sealrings on center support assembly hub worn or broken. 3. Replace sealrings.
4. Clutch piston sealrings damaged. 4. Replace sealrings.
5. Centrifugal check balls in fourth clutch housing not seating. 5. Inspect check balls for contamination and proper operation.
Slipping in First and Reverse; OK in Other Forward Ranges 6. First clutch defective. 6. Overhaul clutch and replace piston seals.
7. Piston sealrings damaged. 7. Replace sealrings.
8. Clutch-apply tube loose and leaking. 8. Inspect tube and reset or replace if necessary.
